The Home Stretch

It has been way too long since I posted! In fact, next Wednesday, August 15th will mark one year since John and I got engaged! And now we are just about three months away from the big day!!!

I thought I'd share some of the things we've gotten accomplished (wedding related of course!) over the past year...

1. Got engaged!!! See my last couple posts for details!

2. Gathered my first set of reading materials. I have not stopped buying bridal magazines all year!!

3. Had our first dinner (and dessert) out as an engaged couple. The bar at Islands is very romantic!

4. Held an informal photo shoot for our engagement announcement.

Well, you get the idea...

5. Went to our first sporting events as an engaged couple.

6. Celebrated over wine.

10. Set a date!!! November 17, 2012

According to This Day in History November 17th also marks:

  • Articles of Confederation submitted for ratification in 1777
  • The Heidi Bowl in 1968 when the Oakland Raiders scored two touchdowns in nine seconds against the New York Jets
  • DaimlerChrysler opened on the New York Stock Exchange in 1998
  • The Terminator became The Governator in 2003
11. Created a website!!
Check out http://johnandbritt.com/ for all things wedding related!!! We try to update it as often as possible.

12. Found our dream reception site - South Hills Country Club

13. Started some home improvements in preparation for me to move in! Tore the 20 year old wallpaper off the wall in John's kitchen, repainted and hung curtains.

 14. Cheered on Tech with Kylie at the Holiday Bowl!

15. Celebrated our first (and last) holiday season as an engaged couple. This year we will be MARRIED!!

15. Made a New Year's Resolution to get married! Hahaha. The previous year's was to get engaged...which really happened!

Happy New Year!!!
16. Bought my dress!! It was the first one I tried on at Bellasposa Bridal in Rancho Cucamonga. Then I tried on the same one for Kylie in Dallas and finally bought it ON SALE at Village Bridal in Glendora! What luck!!

17. Booked our DJ - Fabian at Beverly Hills DJ who welcomed us into his home to show us some of his work.

18. Celebrated Valentine's Day as an engaged couple in Downtown LA.

19. Did more homework at more weddings!!

Tara & Rob Kowsaluk - Marina del Rey, CA

Wayne & Jennifer McDonald

20. Finally picked a Church - Claremont Presbyterian Church in Claremont. Same place John's parents got married at 30 years ago!

21. Did a TON of bridesmaid dress shopping and finally picked one. Thank you to my MOHs for their patience!!

And the winner is....

22. Booked our photographer and took engagement pics! Our first round was in Hermosa Beach, which is where we met, went on our first date, AND got engaged. It was super windy so we had to cut the day short so we took round two in my favorite little city, Downtown Claremont. Photo credit  to Meghan Wiesman Photography.

Now we are on the home stretch and focused on all of the little details. So far this is my favorite part!! Stay tuned for more...hopefully sooner rather than later.
